Easter Chicks
Easter is a sign of new life and this is equally true on our site. Chicks are hatching and those who are very lucky actually get to hold a nearly brand new chick. These chicks are a week old and were reared in an incubator.
The chicks were laid by Paul's hens but incubated by Barry, (no he didn't actually sit on them!). Eggs and chicks stayed in the incubator for 21 days and then had their first taste of the outside world and their adoring public. At present they stay snug at night with their new mum - a mop head and hopefully all will go well for them.

No-one knows at the moment whether they are little boys or girls - apparently we will have to wait until they grow their combs. The little black chick is a Black Orpington.
The little yellow one is a Brahma Buff.

Little hands hold their first real life chick. Cuddles were not just for little hands though - I had my share but obviously not when taking the photographs!
